Connor Wickham: Ipswich to Sunderland for £9m

Ipswich have accepted a bid of £9m from Sunderland for striker Connor Wickham, BBC Sport understands. Wickham, 18, could be a Sunderland player in 24 hours, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The deal for the England Under-21 international, who made his Ipswich debut aged 16, could eventually be worth £12.5m with add-ons. He has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Liverpool. His future has been in doubt despite the fact that he extended his contract with Ipswich until 2014 in April.

Wickham was included in the England squad for the European Under-21 Championship but he did not make an appearance.

That'll do nicely

Another pay rise for Jack Wilshere?

According to the Sunday Mirror, Arsenal will offer Jack Wilshere a new five-year deal that will keep him at the Emirates until 2016. The 19-year-old signed a contract last November that took him into the £40,000 a week bracket. However, his progress for Arsenal and England has been so impressive that he will be in a line for a pay rise of more than £10,000 a week.

u21 England 1 - 2 Czech Republic u21

Czech Republic scored two late goals to dump England out of the European Under-21 Championship. England needed to win to progress to the last four and looked on track to achieve that after Danny Welbeck's 76th-minute header gave England the lead. But substitutes Jan Chramosta and Tomas Pekhart tapped home in the 89th minute and stoppage time respectively.

Stuart Pearce said: "It was probably the best performance of the tournament."

Thank you, Stuart - that's all we need to know.

u21 Iceland 3-1 Denmark u21

Host nation Denmark were dumped out of the European Under-21 Championship following a dramatic 3-1 defeat to Iceland in Aalborg on Saturday. The evening's other game saw Belarus beaten 3-0 by Group A winners Switzerland, but the Danes' unexpected loss meant they failed to capitalise and progress to the semi-finals.

Iceland struck twice in two second-half minutes through Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Birkir Bjarnason to stun the home crowd. Bashkim Kadrii pulled one back for Denmark before Hjortur Valgardsson netted a stunning injury-time strike, but it was not enough for either side as both crashed out.

Neither team could break through in a goalless first half, and it was AZ Alkmaar striker Sigthorsson who eventually ended the deadlock on 58 minutes when he turned the ball home from close range. The Danes' evening went from bad to worse just two minutes later when Gylfi Sigurdsson set up Bjarnason with a tidy cross, allowing him to head home and double Iceland's advantage.

Denmark saw a glimmer of hope when Kadrii met a Kasper Povlsen cross to score with nine minutes left on the clock, but it was extinguished soon after when Valgarsson put Iceland's win beyond doubt with a wonder strike from outside the box. Saturday's result means hosts Denmark finish in the basement of Group A, with Switzerland progressing at the top and Belarus edging through in second.

Sorry to see Iceland go out!

u21 Ukraine 0 - 0 England u21

England's Under-21s must win their final group game, against Czech Republic on Sunday, to avoid elimination from the European Championships following a determined (Lansbury, Henderson) but uninspired (the rest) draw with Ukraine. A draw will suffice for the Czechs, who are currently one point ahead of Stuart Peace's team despite losing 2-0 to Spain.
