On-loan Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole continued his fine recent form with a hat-trick as Lille defeated Chantilly 6-0 in the French Cup on Saturday evening. The 30-year-old, on a season-long loan at Stade Metropole after failing to establish himself in the Reds’ first-team, took his season’s tally to 7 goals in 22 appearances for Rudi Garcia’s side.
The former England international, who still has three-and-a-half years left on his current deal at Anfield, has recently stated his desire to remain with the Ligue 1 outfit beyond the end of this season, while Lille have said they will speak to Liverpool about the prospect of a permanent move for the ex-Chelsea man.
