Arsene Wenger optimistic over Jack Wilshere return
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said England midfielder Jack Wilshere will return mentally stronger from his 14-month absence through injury. The 20-year-old has returned to first-team training, but Wenger warned that the club needed to be cautious. "What he's gone through will make him stronger. It's a good test for your mental strength," Wenger said.
Wilshere missed Euro 2012 after a long-standing knee injury flared up during his rehabilitation from a stress fracture and Wenger said the club would assess his progress on a "day by day" basis. "I always thought he would come back," added Wenger. "Wilshere has had ups and downs. He was focused, especially in the last three months. We have to be a bit cautious. We need to manage him well. He needs a few games in the reserves." BBC Sport
